MARINE ELECTRICAL INSPECTION SERVICE::

An important part of Marina Operation is the maintenance and routine testing of the Marina Electrical System. Marina environments are very tough on electrical systems with corrosion and constant movement contributing to electrical failures.

In addition, NFPA 303 – Article 520 of the Fire Protection Standard for Marinas and Boatyards requires inspection of the marina electrical wiring and equipment at least annually. ACRA Electric, Inc., with years of marina wiring experience, is offering a service to evaluate and report on the condition of the electrical system at marinas.

The Marina Electrical Inspection Service will include:

  1. Survey of shorepower pedestals and receptacle sizes.
  2. Survey of electrical service, feeders and distribution system, to include cycling of each overcurrent protective device and disconnect switch.
  3. Inspection of switchgear.
  4. Inspection of shore to dock electrical connection for floating docks.
  5. Evaluation of grounding electrode system.
  6. Testing of each individual shorepower receptacle to include: Voltage, Voltage Drop, Ground to Neutral Voltage, Resistance of Hot, Neutral and Ground Conductors, GFCI and Light test.
  7. Boats that are connected will be tested for possible leaking current, bonding continuity, and neutral isolation.

After the inspection is completed a report and summary will be prepared and presented, along with recommendations for possible repairs.
